The Institute

Introduction

Introduction

The Swiss Pain Institute is an independent organization dedicated to the care of patients with persistent and chronic pain. Our center is the result of a reflection on the process of care as well as on the successes and limitations of the treatments offered to these patients.

We offer, under one roof, a strategy centered on the pain, the patient and his project. The most recent diagnostic and therapeutic techniques are used to understand and treat the patient’s pain in a multidisciplinary approach.

The Institute's goals

The Institute's goals

The Institute offers the patient and his referring physician:

  • A rapid and adapted care
  • An initial multidimensional evaluation
  • The most recent diagnostic and therapeutic interventional techniques
  • A strategic approach to pain, from initial diagnosis to treatment, within a coordinated and human team of specialists
Quality Certificate

Quality Certificate

Our goal is to develop a quality certificate:

  • the Swiss Pain Institute Certification.

It will be awarded to hospitals and care facilities that meet the standards set by the Swiss Pain Institute.

We will provide education and assessment tools for acute and chronic pain. A systematic control of the established standards will be applied.

Teaching

Teaching

The Institute offers pre- and post-graduate medical training at the University of Geneva (2nd and 3rd year elective courses) and, since 2017, nursing training is provided at the Haute École de Santé La Source.

A one-year post-graduate medical fellowship has been organized since 2010 for Swiss and foreign physicians.

The Swiss Pain Institute is recognized as an “A” training center by the Swiss Society for Interventional Pain Management (SSIPM) and is the bearer of the prestigious World Institute of Pain Award of Excellence.

Research

Research

This activity is delegated by the Institute to the PAIN Foundation.

The PAIN Foundation has been in existence since 2002 and has contributed to the development of several quality models, such as ISO 9001 certification and a database for the follow-up of more than 10’000 patients (over a period of two years).
